Kainaz Motivala

We've seen this pretty face before in Paathshaala and Wake Up Sid. Now, bright and radiant Kainaz Motivala   will soon be seen in Ragini MMS, a horror thriller which is a hybrid of fact and fiction.
The film releases in theatres on May 13 (yes, Friday the thirteenth). It will be released in two languages: Hindi and Telugu.
The young actress seems relaxed and is confident about her performance in the film. Excerpts:
You star in Ekta Kapoor's Ragini MMS. What is your character in the film?   I essay the role of Ragini. She is a simple south Mumbai girl in her early 20s, just out of college and has a boyfriend who she's been with for 8-9 months.
What's the film about?   It's a sensuous paranormal film, shot as if in real time. The film is about a young couple, Ragini and Uday (Raj Kumar Yadav), who go on a weekend trip to a friend's farmhouse, unaware that the house is rigged with secret cameras causing the reason for all the incidents.   How did you prepare for this role?   We had a very intensive workshop for a month. We wanted to keep the fear very real, so we indulged in a lot of improvisations. We heard the music from the film The Shining which is very spooky and also saw a lot of horror films.   How did you bag the lead role?   I auditioned for it. I was given two improvisational scenes to perform with a brief character sketch.  I was called again for a re-audition and I got selected.
We've seen you in two commercial films before:  Paathshaala and Wake Up Sid . But this one sounds like it's more hard-hitting. I am open to all kind of genres as long as the script excites me. I want to do more hard hitting films not necessary commercial.
You reportedly have a few love making scenes. Did they make you feel uncomfortable?  Yes, it is very uncomfortable to shoot such scenes. But once you realise that it's purely acting and not doing it as Kainaz but as the character (Ragini), its fine. I had a long discussion with my co-star Raj and he made me feel very comfortable.   Kainaz Motivala
